Cancellation Policy

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. Out of respect for my time and other clients, I ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged 50% of the scheduled session fee (for example: $35 for 30 minutes, $55 for 60 minutes, $77.50 for 90 minutes, or $105 for 120 minutes). Missed appointments without notice (no-shows) will be charged the full session fee. If you are ill or suspect you may be, please cancel or reschedule as soon as possible— for your safety, mine, and that of my other clients. In cases of illness, cancellation fees are always waived. In the event of inclement weather, I will check in with you prior to your appointment to ensure that we can both arrive safely. If travel conditions make it necessary to reschedule, no cancellation fee will apply.

Illness Policy

If you are ill, think you may be coming down with something, or are unsure about symptoms, please cancel or reschedule your session for everyone's safety. I also care for an immunocompromised child, so protecting the health of every client and my family is important. Massage should be postponed if you’ve had a fever, cough, sore throat, congestion, body aches, stomach illness, or other contagious symptoms in the past 48 hours.

For COVID-19, please wait at least 10 days from symptom onset or a positive test, be fever-free for 24 hours without medication, and have improving symptoms before booking. All illness-related cancellations are exempt from fees.

Late Arrival Policy

Out of consideration for other clients and to ensure you receive your full session time, please plan to arrive on time—or 5–10 minutes early for your first appointment to allow for intake discussion before your session.

Please complete all health intake and consent forms online no later than the day before your appointment. This allows me adequate time to review your information and prepare for your treatment.

If your forms are not completed before your scheduled start time, your session may be shortened to allow time for completion, and the full appointment fee will still apply.

If you arrive late to your scheduled appointment time, your session may be shortened to accommodate others whose appointment may be following yours. Regardless of the length of the session, you will still be responsible to pay for the full scheduled appointment.

Your appointment includes time for an intake to discuss your health considerations and treatment before the session, time to disrobe/robe in private, your scheduled session time--unless shortened due to late arrival, and a brief outtake to check in after your bodywork and discuss recommendations for future treatment and self-care.

Covid-19 & Health Safety

As we continue to navigate life with COVID-19, I strive to keep my practice accessible and safe for everyone, including vulnerable populations. During sessions, I wear a medical-grade KN95 mask in the treatment room to help reduce overall exposure.

Clients are not required to mask, though you are always welcome to do so if that feels most comfortable for you.

Two HEPA air purifiers run continuously during and between sessions, providing air changes per hour (ACH) consistent with healthcare-level standards for illness prevention. The treatment room also has two windows that can be opened for fresh air at your request.

All treatment surfaces or tools are sanitized between sessions, and all sheets, face cradle covers, and blankets are freshly laundered for each client.

I monitor my own health closely and will always reschedule if I develop any cold or flu symptoms. I ask clients to do the same. Because I have an immunocompromised child at home, I take extra precautions in daily life—masking in crowded indoor spaces and avoiding close contact with anyone showing signs of illness. Even mild colds can lead to health complications or missed work, so I greatly appreciate your partnership in helping limit the spread of illness.

If there are any additional accommodations that would help you feel comfortable and safe during your session (for example, open windows for extra ventilation), please let me know.

Hygiene & Sensitivities

Whenever possible, please arrive freshly showered and free of strong body odors. Out of respect for all clients, please refrain from wearing strong perfumes or colognes to your session.

If you have any open sores, cuts, blisters, or warts, please cover them with a bandage before your appointment and let your therapist know during intake so these areas can be avoided.

Coconut oil or Biotone massage lotion / cream may be used during sessions. Please indicate any allergies or sensitivities on your health intake and inform your therapist in advance if you have concerns about specific ingredients.

Occasionally, essential oils may be diffused in the treatment room. If you prefer a scent-neutral environment, please mention this when scheduling and note any scent sensitivities or allergies on your health intake.

Professional Conduct & Scope of Practice

Please refrain from consuming alcohol before your session and inform your therapist of any current medications or areas of reduced sensation related to them.

This is a licensed massage therapy practice that upholds all rules, laws, and professional ethics established by the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Board of Massage Therapy.

Any inappropriate conduct or requests of a sexual nature will not be tolerated. Such behavior will result in the immediate termination of the session, and you will be responsible for the full session fee.

If disrobing for your session, you will be appropriately draped at all times. At no point will genitalia or breast tissue be exposed. Requests for undraped massage will not be accommodated.

Either the therapist or the client may end the session at any time, for any reason.

By law, licensed massage therapists cannot diagnose, perform chiropractic adjustments or give medical advice outside of their scope. Appropriate referrals will be made if necessary. Doctor's notes may be required before treatment for some conditions.

Considerations for Your Massage Session

Disrobing to your comfort level truly means just that. While certain techniques are most effective when performed directly on the skin—using oil or lotion and allowing access to larger muscle groups—the most beneficial massage is one in which you feel safe and comfortable.

You are always welcome to remain partially clothed or wear undergarments if you prefer. Your session will be adjusted to fully respect your comfort level at all times. Should you choose to fully disrobe, you will be appropriately draped at all times.

Please inform your therapist immediately if you are experiencing any pain or discomfort during a session so that technique, pressure or temperature can be adjusted. This is your session and by no means should you be holding your breath and gritting your teeth from discomfort or pain. While sometimes there may be intense sensation as tissues release, this is not synonymous with pain signals that are over your tolerance or threshold, which can signal to your body's nervous system that you are unsafe and is not conducive for effective massage. The 'no pain no gain philosophy' does not apply here with bodywork, so please feel empowered to share with your therapist your preferences for what works best for your unique body, no offense taken, ever!

During your session, know that this is your time and there is no obligation whatsoever to start or carry a conversation. Your therapist will check in with you occasionally to make sure the techniques or pressure are comfortable but silence is absolutely respected and in fact appreciated here. While your therapist loves to get to know you, quiet is valued here and seen as honoring this time for you to step into the present and tune into your body and breath. Conversation or quiet time is your choice during your session, though do note that at times, your therapist may gently guide you back to your breath or the sensations in your body.

If possible, consider skipping that extra cup of coffee right before your appointment. Caffeine activates the nervous system, while massage offers a chance to slow down and support the parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) response.

Coffee is also a diuretic, and when combined with massage’s natural effect of promoting circulation and cellular waste removal, it can sometimes mean an unexpected trip to the bathroom mid-session. If that happens, no worries—just let your therapist know rather than trying to tough it out! We’re in the business of bodies, and all natural functions are expected and respected.

If at all possible please avoid strenuous activity or exercise immediately after your session to give your body a chance to integrate any changes to tissue plasticity and holding patterns. If you are able, commit to a day of self care the day of your appointment by leaning into supportive self care after your session such as going for a walk or gentle movement practice, drinking extra fluids, taking an Epsom salt bath, and getting some extra rest in.

Do consider drinking plenty of water leading up to and after your session. Do consider drinking plenty of water both before and after your massage. Our bodies are made up of roughly 60% water — it supports nearly every system by lubricating joints and connective tissues, regulating temperature, transporting oxygen and nutrients, and helping flush cellular waste.

Arriving well-hydrated allows your connective tissues to have better plasticity and responsiveness to treatment, often resulting in less post-session soreness. Continuing to hydrate afterward supports your body’s natural processes of recovery.
